Fun times with Finlee

We love taking pictures of this cute boy. Hope you don't mind us sharing them with you.

We have been working on tummy time. The other night Finlee was being so cute staring at his dad.

A Surprise Surgery

As many of you already know, Finlee had surgery. It came kind of unexpected, but it has helped him so much.

I wont explain it all here because I already wrote a long post on Facebook so check it out if you want the story.
Since the surgery, Finlee has done great. No throwing up at home and just a bit of spit up every few days. He is more content now than he was before, but even before he was good.
He'll have a pretty long scar on his little belly (about 2 inches long right now), but it should look better over time.

I'm just so happy we caught it quick, and that he is not throwing up so much. For a while there they said he might be just a baby that throws up a lot. I was ready to go to the store and buy a bunch of hand towels to use as burp cloths because they cover my whole upper body when I burp him and because they absorbed the throw up better. I was also going to buy more onesies and outfits because he was going through 3 or 4 changes in a day. I am so happy that isn't the case anymore.

I am so grateful for the great doctors and nurses who did the surgery and helped us in the hospital. Everyone was so great and loved Finlee so much. People just couldn't get enough of him, just like us.

I am so glad it is over with and he is doing so good.
Thank you everyone for your love and prayers!

One Month Old

Well, our little Finlee is already one month old. I don't want the time to speed by like this. It has been a fun, tiring, exciting, stressful, wonderful month of learning how to be parents. He really is a good baby, but he does have his funny quirks.

1. He hates anything cold touching his body which is hard here in Flagstaff. This includes wipes, hands, water, washcloths, clothes, blankets, etc. He kinda freaks out.

2. He loves eating. He has this funny cry/whine/hyperventilation sound before I feed him. And he scarfs it down.

3. He loves movement: walk in the stroller, car ride, bouncing in arms, swing, etc.

4. He has a funny sleeping pattern. He wants to be up with dad until dad goes to bed which is around 10 or 11, but then he'll sleep in until 10 or 11 some days.  This does include waking up every 2-4 hours to eat but he goes right back down.

5. He loves white noise. We use a sound machine at night, and now we have found nap time goes better if that is on too. Or when he is crying if you shush really loud in his ear he stops instantly. And he loves when he is in the front room and the heater goes on because there is a large vent in there. The blow dryer is our saving grace during bath time.

6. He loves time with dad: when dad talks to him, sings to him, dances or bounces with him, reads him books (especially the Japanese books), sleeping on his chest, or just plain being in his arms.

These are just a few things that we have found with this little boy. We still are learning new things with him and loving every moment.

He has the funniest look on his face in all of these pictures. He was tired when I took them so I had the blow dryer going to help sooth him and keep him warm and he just froze listening to the noise.
He is so funny!

Finlee's first hike in Sedona

My family came into town to hang out with us for New Years and it was so nice to have them here. Finlee was only a few weeks old and everyone wanted to go down to Sedona. So we braved leaving the house and thought we would try a little hike. Little did I know that it wasn't so little. It was beautiful and I loved it but to take a 3 week old on it was a little much. We got lots of stares and tons of comments. But he did great and slept the whole way.

I really didn't like the idea of Spencer taking Finlee out on the bridge, but guess who won the argument. I just hope Finlee isn't as daring as his dad because he makes me nervous too many times.

On the hike back a guy with his Rino stopped to give us a ride which was really nice. Super bumpy but Finlee slept through the whole thing. That baby loves movement and loud noises.

2 weeks old

My friend Rebecca Campbell was so kind to come over and take some newborn pictures of Finlee at 2 weeks old. Here are a few of my favorites!

We wanted to take more of us with Finlee but we waited to do those at the end of the photo shoot and Finlee had had enough plus it was time to feed. So we will hopefully be getting some taken soon.

Our first Christmas as a little family

Wearing our PJ's from my parents on Christmas Eve!

Our new family U of U gear.

I wore this Christmas outfit when I was a month old. It says baby's first Christmas!

Little Santa outfit from a friend in the ward.
We had a nice, relaxing Christmas home. We opened presents, made a Webb family classic Ebelskievers for breakfast, played some games we got for Christmas, watched a movie and had a yummy dinner. We really missed being with all our great family, but we did enjoy laying low, especially since we're still figuring out this whole parenting thing. I hope that everyone had a very merry Christmas.
